Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity, recovering a locally made pistol with two live cartridges in Oyo Town.
The suspects, Oparemi Kabiru, alias “Ikebe”, and Fasasi Taofeek, alias “Bufalo”, were arrested on June 17, 2026, at their hideout in Oke-Apo area by the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU.
In a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka and made available on Wednesday to newsmen,
the Command said the arrest followed credible intelligence linking the duo to violent crimes threatening public peace in Oyo Town and environs.
“During interrogation, both suspects confessed to cult membership and admitted involvement in several violent criminal activities within Oyo Town and surrounding communities”
“The successful operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and the critical role of actionable information provided by members of the public in combating crime.”
The CP said as quoted,“Security is a shared responsibility and we call on all residents to remain vigilant and actively support law enforcement efforts through timely, accurate, and credible information.
He urged residents to embrace “See Something, Say Something”, slogan , stressing that prompt reporting of suspicious persons, movements, and activities enables proactive police intervention will help to prevent crimes from occurring.
He assured that all information received by the Police will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
CP Olugbenga reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to rid the state of cultism, armed violence and all forms of criminality, saying “criminal elements have no safe haven anywhere within the State.”
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
