Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has condemned the co-ordinated attacks on residents of Ile-Ife, Ede and Osogbo by suspected political thugs, urging President Bola Tinubu to call Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and Osun APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to order.
Addressing an emergency press briefing at the Government House on Tuesday, the Governor said the attacks started in Ile-Ife before the assailants moved to Akoda, Owode, Olaiya, Old Garage, Okefia and other parts of Osogbo in a 15-vehicle convoy branded with AMBO pictures.

“As at the time of this press conference, several residents have been injured and one or two people feared killed. The attackers are led by thugs known as Aleba and Asiri,” he said.
In a press release signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed , spokesperson to the governor on Wednesday, Adeleke accused the state police command of failing to stop the attacks or arrest the perpetrators, describing the violence as “outrageous, unprovoked and a deliberate step to plunge the state into chaos.”

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the destabilising roles of Marine Minister, Gboyega Oyetola and the Osun APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji. For the past few months, I have been calming my people to maintain peace despite persistent attacks,” the Governor stated.

He cited recent incidents including the killing of an Accord youth leader at Ikire a month ago and the shooting of the Osogbo chairman of Accord a few days ago.
The Governor called on the National Security Adviser, Inspector General of Police, Director General of DSS and other security officials to intervene. He appealed to President Tinubu to call Oyetola and Oyebamiji to order.

Governor Adeleke later visited victims receiving treatment at the Osun State Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, and the Cottage Hospital, Ede. He interacted with the injured, their families and medical personnel.
During the visit, he paid a solidarity visit to the Chairman of Accord in Osogbo Local Government who was attacked last week by suspected assassins.
Describing the attacks as “unfortunate, reprehensible and contrary to Osun’s peaceful culture,” the Governor said political differences should never degenerate into violence.

“No political ambition is worth the blood or suffering of our people. Osun remains a peaceful state and we will not allow any individual or group to disrupt the peace,” he said.
Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke directed security agencies to conduct thorough investigations and ensure all perpetrators, regardless of status or political affiliation, are prosecuted. He assured residents of additional security measures across vulnerable locations.
He urged political actors to caution their supporters and appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
