A former Polytechnic Ibadan Student Union President, Comrade Okikiola Oloyede has been elected Chairman of NANS JCC Oyo State Chapter.
Comrade Oloyede, announced at a convention held in Ibadan on Wednesday, pledging unity, inclusiveness, and purposeful leadership.
The former SUG President called on Governor Seyi Makinde to address tensions between students and the Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs for peace and students’ prosperity in Oyo State.
The convention, held amidst earlier threats of boycott due to exam clashes, showcasing the students’ determination.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Oloyede emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to drive socio-economic development in Oyo State.
He urged students to remain focused and united, promising to be a voice for their concerns.
The newly elected chairman also appealed to the state government to prioritize student welfare, particularly in areas of security and infrastructure.
He expressed optimism that with collective efforts, the student community could achieve greater heights.
Earlier, the students’ community, led by Martha Gabriel, passed a confidence vote on Oloyede’s leadership, citing his unifying influence.
Recall, the convention was presided over by Comrade Sunday Emmanuel, Chairman of the Independent Convention Planning Committee, who commended the students for their peaceful conduct.
