Gospel artiste Prince Segun Adewole, popularly known as Kokoro, has revealed that he was never raised to rival the late legendary musician, Roland Olubukola Olomola, fondly called ‘Baba Ara’.

Kokoro disclosed this during an interview on Weathcome Entertainment Show on Adamimogo 105.1FM Ibadan on Thursday.

Describing Baba Ara as a non-competitive musician, Kokoro credited his talent development to the late artiste and producer, saying his tutelage under Baba Ara shaped his music production skills.

“I learned under him for years in Kano and later in Sagamu when he relocated in the 80s,” he said.

Kokoro noted that old-time music production, though slow, fostered creativity and dedication among artistes, marketers, and producers.

He lamented that the poor functioning of Nigeria’s Copyright Commission has led to widespread piracy and impoverishment of creative artistes.

“The impact of social media and advanced technology is another factor enabling hybrid music production,” he said, warning young artistes against imitation without creativity and commitment.

Kokoro commended Ibadan-based presenter Olusina Olabode, fondly called Omooyashina, for promoting young and established artistes, and promised fans “continued beauty rhythms”.

Meanwhile, the multi-talented gospel artiste vowed to rebuild Baba Ara’s legacy.
