Nigeria Polytechnic Students Call For Prioritization Of Local Industries

The President of the President, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide has called on the government to prioritize local industries, citing the Dangote Refinery as a prime example of what could drive Nigeria’s economic growth.

This fomed basis of discussion at he 46th Senate Sitting of NAPS, held at Federal polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, on Wednesday.

The student leaders emphasized the need for consistent crude oil supply to local refineries, stable policies, and investment in infrastructure and technology.

They also highlighted the critical role of polytechnic education in producing skilled manpower for industrial development, urging the government to upgrade facilities, support technical training, and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

The students stressed that Nigeria must move from being a consuming nation to a producing nation, stopping the export of raw materials and import of poverty.

Meanwhile the student leaders demanded policies that favour national growth over dependency, calling for a future where Nigerian industries thrive, refineries deliver, and students contribute proudly to national development.
