The Coalition of Yoruba Youth Movement (COYYM) has called the Arewa Youth to abandon plans for a protest in Lagos on March 19, 2026, saying the issue at hand requires collective efforts to secure crude oil supply for the Dangote Refinery and other local refineries.

In a statement signed by national President of COYYM, Comrade Benedict Olalere Adetunji and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, the association said linking the current fuel scarcity and price hike to the Dangote Refinery is misleading, noting that global tensions, particularly the Middle East conflict, are driving the crisis.

The group stated that the refinery has not been receiving adequate crude oil supply locally, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) providing only 28 percent of its needs, forcing it to import from outside Nigeria.

“Providing 100% crude supply to the refinery would significantly help stabilize fuel production and curb the continuous rise in the price of petrol across the country,” COYYM said, urging Nigerians to join forces to demand action from the federal government.

The coalition warned groups planning protests to stay away from the Southwest Region of Nigeria, stressing that any action creating tension will not be tolerated.

While, COYYM called for a unified push for 100 percent crude oil supply to the Dangote Refinery, it said the protest will be most important demanded by Nigerians.

Meanwhile, COYYM gave the federal government a seven-day ultimatum to meet this demand, warning that failure to comply would lead to mass protests across the country. “We are equal to protect the interest of our dear nation,” Comrade. Adetunji said.
