Oyo Central Senator, Akintunde donates five buses to City Boy Movement, vows One-Million-Vote Target for Tinubu in Oyo

By, Tayo Olatunji

Senator Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has announced the donation of five operational buses to the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, giving a major logistics boost to the groupโ€™s expanding grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the Oyo State leadership of the movement to the senatorโ€™s Ibadan residenceโ€”part of the groupโ€™s ongoing engagements with key political stakeholders across the state.

Senator Akintunde, while commending the movement for what he described as โ€œconsistent, organised, and youth-driven mobilization,โ€ said the City Boy Movement had become a formidable political structure bridging the gap between young people and political leadership.

He praised the groupโ€™s statewide presence and strategic mobilisation efforts, noting that their activities had strengthened political awareness in hard-to-reach communities.

โ€œIn support of your operations, I will be donating five buses. These are essential needs for coordination and I am fully convinced that any investment made in this movement is worth it,โ€ Akintunde said.

He reminded the gathering that he is also a proud member of the City Boy Movement,ย  saying, โ€œOur mission is clearโ€”to build and sustain a government that is reliable, responsible, and responsive.”

“The results of the current administrationโ€™s policies are beginning to show, and we must encourage our people to stay the course.”

“Obstacles will come, but with determination, we will achieve our goals.โ€

Speaking, Director of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, Hon. Femi Onireti, said the organisation has intensified mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโ€™s re-election, declaring that the group is targeting one million votes for the President in 2027.

โ€œWe are prepared to go all out. Our target is one million votes for President Tinubu in Oyo State, and our mobilisation machinery has been activated across all zones,โ€ Onireti stated.

Corroborating this, the Oyo State Co-ordinator of the movement, Chief Ahmed Ajibola, revealed that the group already has more than 50,000 registered members and well-structured presence across all 351 wards in Oyo State, a network he described as โ€œan asset for deep grassroots penetration.โ€

Meanwhile, the
leadership of the City Boy Movement expressed profound appreciation to Senator Akintunde for his support, describing him as a steadfast ally of youth political participation and grassroots development.

Other members who spoke during the visit reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the organisationโ€™s mobilisation activities as preparations toward future political engagements intensify across the state.
