The Oyo State House of Assembly aspirant, Hon. Temitope Olawoyin has urged Muslims to embrace vigilance, prayers and good conscience as the Islamic calendar enters 1448 Hijrah.
In a press statement issued by Olawale Kunle, Special Assistant on Media, Communications and Publicity on Tuesday, Hon. Olawoyin said the new Islamic year should signal a fresh commitment to peaceful living worldwide.
She noted that Prophet Muhammad’s life remains a legacy the world still benefits from.
However, the Egbeda State Constituency aspirant expressed concern over rising insecurity in Oyo State and Nigeria, calling on citizens to combine prayers with vigilance and conscience in daily conduct.
Hon. Olawoyin also appealed to government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of 46 pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government area over the last 31 days.
“We seek your urgent response over the release of the Oriire abductees, as you did for Mrs Rabe Abubakar and Mrs Olaide Adegoke JohnPaul recently. We trust your effort. You will succeed,” she said.
The gender equality advocate commended security agencies for recent rescues, including the release of the sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu and the wife of late General, Mrs. Rabe Abubakar, describing it historic.
Meanwhile, Hon. Olawoyin prayed for continued peace and progress in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
