Akintunde Inspects Ayegun-Oleyo Road, Gets Commendation From Community

The Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Southwest Development Commission, Sen Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, on Friday inspected the ongoing construction of the Ayegun-Oleyo Road in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The visit came as contractors continued with asphalt laying on the road, with residents expressing satisfaction with the progress of the project.

Akintunde had earlier attended the Jumat service at the Oleyo Central Mosque, where the Chief Imam, Imam Muhammad Tajudeen Aniponpo Adewumi, offered prayers for the Senator and prayed for his continued progress.

The Senator was later received by the Baale of Oleyo, Chief Kabiru Olajide, and his Council of Chiefs. Residents of the community also came out in large numbers and in a joyous mood to welcome him.

Among those present were a former Commissioner, Barrister Kazeem Adedeji, the Secretary and Head of Administration of the BSA Campaign Council, the APC Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Joshua Atiku, Party faithful, APC Support groups, and some traditional rulers from across the South-West who had paid a visit to the Baale of Oleyo.

The dignitaries and traditional rulers delivered goodwill messages during the inspection.

Speaking on the road project, members of the community described the ongoing construction as a major development, saying it had brought relief to residents after decades of poor road conditions.

The community said the project represented the end of what it described as a 41-year period of road dilapidation and had renewed hope among residents of the 75 communities under the Ayegun-Oleyo-Odo Ona Elewe-Egbejoda Community Development Association.

The residents expressed confidence in the completion of the project and commended Akintunde for his representation of the senatorial district.

“We are proud of your worthy representation, our Distinguished Senator,” the community said.

The Ayegun-Oleyo Road, when completed, is expected to improve movement and connectivity for residents and communities along the route.
