The Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Dr. Charles Ebuebu, has emphasized that digital broadcasting is driving Africa’s economic transformation, trade expansion, and investment growth.
Speaking at the Investors Business Roundtable Summit and International Honors 2026 in London, Ebuebu noted that broadcasting has evolved into a key pillar of the digital economy, expanding market access for businesses, supporting cross-border trade under AfCFTA, and attracting investment.
He highlighted Nigeria’s strong telecoms growth and thriving creative sector as positioning the country to lead Africa’s digital media and broadcasting transformation.
“Broadcasting today is not just about content; it is about economic opportunity, market access, and global competitiveness,” Ebuebu stated.
He called for infrastructure development, smart regulation, and sustained investment to unlock the sector’s potential.
Ebuebu was recognized for his leadership in broadcasting innovation, conferred as a Fellow of the International Alliance of Business Professionals, and awarded an Honorary Professional Doctorate in Business Management.
