President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the rescue of 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps and six other Nigerians abducted last week in Kogi State.

In a statement issued on Monday on his verified Facebook page, the President said a well-coordinated Search and Rescue operation by a combined team of the military, Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services, and local vigilantes freed all 21 abductees from a kidnappers’ den in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area.

The rescued persons, comprising eight males and 13 females, are currently receiving medical attention ahead of reunion with their families.

“I am delighted to receive the news that the fifteen members of the National Youth Service Corps and six other innocent and law-abiding Nigerians abducted last week in Kogi State have regained their freedom,” President Tinubu said.

Meanwhile, the President directed security agencies to sustain pressure on criminal elements and ensure those responsible face the full weight of the law.

“Our gallant security forces are still on the trail of the routed kidnappers. Those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime,” he stated.

President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring Nigerians can travel across the country without fear. He commended the SAR team for their courage and thanked families for their patience during the ordeal.

“As I share in the relief and joy of the parents and loved ones of the rescued individuals, I assure parents of our dedicated corps members that my administration remains committed to ensuring the safety of their lives and property, as well as those of other Nigerians,” he added.

He concluded: “God bless the men and women of our Security and Intelligence agencies. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
