Makinde promises zero gratuity backlog by May 2027

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has increased the monthly payment for the clearance of backlog and current gratuities of state workers from one billion naira to three billion naira.

Governor Makinde made this known at the 12th Omituntun Ramadan Lecture held at the Ibadan North Local Government Motor Park, Agodi Gate, Ibadan.

The Governor also pledging that necessary facilities would be put in place to ensure zero backlog of gratuity by May 2027, promising smooth airlifting of Oyo State pilgrims directly from Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan to Saudi Arabia by May 3-4, 2026.

Appreciating the support received from Muslim community, Governor Makinde, announced the donation of one bus each to seven selected mosques across the seven geopolitical zones of the state to support Islamic propagation.

In his sermon, Sheikh Jamiu Sanusi, cautioned the governor against blaming game and sycophants who may not offer sincere advice and urged residents to remain contented with whatever Allah has given them.

In separate goodwill messages, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Oyo deputy governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, and former Speaker of Oyo Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu, stressed the need for love, unity, and collective commitment among residents to further advance the development of the state.

Special prayers were offered for the Governor and the state by Faruk Onikijipa., with a donation of a jeep to the Ramadan guess lecturer, Jamiu Sanusi, fondly called Ami Olohun.
