The National Association of Oduduwa Students, NAOS, and the National Association of Polytechnic Students, NAPS, have launched a new peace project tagged “Students Against Violence Everywhere, S.A.V.E” in partnership with the Oyo State Police Command.

The initiative was formally presented to the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbemiga, during a courtesy visit by the leadership of both associations on Monday, July 7, 2026, at the Command Headquarters in Ibadan.

S.A.V.E. is a joint initiative of NAOS and the Senate leadership of NAPS. According to the student leaders, the project is designed to mobilize students as active stakeholders in promoting peace, preventing violence, strengthening community engagement, and fostering a culture of responsible citizenship across Oyo State and Nigeria.

Addressing the Commissioner and senior officers, the student leaders said security is a collective responsibility that requires cooperation, vigilance, and commitment, especially from young people who make up a significant portion of the population.

The meeting had in attendance the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Assistant Commissioners of Police for Finance and Operations, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Oluseyi Olayinka, and other principal officers of the Command.

Confirming the adoption of the initiative, the Commissioner of Police commended the student bodies for the proactive step, describing it as a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between students and law enforcement agencies.

He said the partnership reflects a shared vision of building safer campuses, peaceful communities, and a society where dialogue and civic responsibility prevail over violence and criminality.

Under the S.A.V.E. initiative, NAOS and NAPS said they will organize advocacy campaigns, peace education programmes, community engagements, security awareness drives, and strategic partnerships aimed at discouraging violence and promoting unity.

The student leaders added that members will be trained to become ambassadors of peace in their institutions and communities.

The President of NAOS, Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji, who signed the statement, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner and the entire management of the Oyo State Police Command for their warm reception and support.

“Through S.A.V.E., we remain committed to ensuring that violence has no place in our schools, our communities, or our future. Together, we can build a safer society,” the statement concluded.
