Muslims gathered at the Agodi Eid Ground in Ibadan to mark Eid al-Fitr on Friday, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulganiyu Abubakry Agbotomokekere, emphasized the importance of peace, unity, and adherence to Islamic teachings.
“Let us sustain the virtues of sacrifice, discipline, and compassion cultivated during Ramadan,” he said.
Addressing the newsmen, Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, commended citizens’ co-operation over the past seven years and stressed the need for peace, humility, and kindness. “This will enable peace, prosperity, and progress to the entire country,” he said.
Notable attendees included Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, represented by his Deputy, and the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, His Eminence Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola.
The event was marked by a peaceful and orderly environment, thanks to security agencies.
