The All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo state has disclosed that actions and performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last 34 months in office have indicated that he was the best man for the job of leading Nigeria even beyond 2027 “since he (Tinubu) has demonstrated capacity, competence and character required to fix the country and set it on the path to greatness, stability and prosperity.

Oyo APC’s remark came as a congratulatory message to the president on the occasion of his 74th birthday anniversary even as the state chapter of the Party reiterated its commitment to the second term project and the full realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Senator Bola Tinubu.

In a statement issued at the weekend and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC felicitated the national leadership of the APC on the success of the National Convention in Abuja which climaxed the Party’s circle of congresses for 2026.

“An average Nigerian appreciates the fact that President Tinubu deserves being celebrated for rekindling the hope of a stronger, better and more promising Nigeria but we chose not roll out the drum in celebration of the Mr. President’s birthday in compliance with his directives hinged on the current mood of the nation.”

“However, we are proud of him as a courageous, passionate and results-oriented leader who means well for Nigeria and Nigerians.”, APC noted.

In another development, Oyo APC has reiterated that members of the general public, including its members and supporters, should discountenance the rumour making the rounds about the emergence of the Party’s candidates for the 2027 general election warning those behind it should either desist or be prepared to face the consequences if caught.

“Just about a few days ago, we had a cause to dispel the unfounded rumour of the emergence of a gubernatorial candidate for our party in the state for the next year general election and unfortunately again, it appears that the sponsors of that malicious story have not realised the negative implications of their actions as they might come up with more dangerous antics aimed at causing panic and confusion in the system.”, he said.

“As a matter of fact, the leadership of our great Party has launched an investigation into the brains behind the circulation of a fresh list of purported Oyo APC candidates as it was obtained in social media a few hours ago and we can assure our teeming members and supporters that the list is not only fake but also deceptive and provocative.”

“As it stands now, we do not harbour any aspirant or candidate list for 2027 because it is not yet time for expression of interest, nomination and party primary.” Sadare added.
