The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered eight parcels of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud concealed inside a car tyre.
This is contained in a statement issued the command’s spokesman, Olayinka Ayanlade on Saturday.
The operation, part of the Command’s sustained intelligence-led efforts, aimed to disrupt criminal networks and prevent illicit substances from fuelling insecurity across the State.
Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Anti-Narcotics Section, led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, raided a vulcanizer’s shop where the suspects were hiding the drugs. A vulcanizing machine allegedly used in the process was also seized.
The suspects confessed to their involvement and are assisting with investigations. They will be charged to court soon, while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
However, the Command has reiterated its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and calls on the public to provide information to make Oyo State safer.
