The Deputy Comptroller and acting Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Wale Adeoye Command has announced seizure of various contrabands worth ₦2.5 billion in duty paid value.

Speaking at the 2nd significant press briefing and handing over ceremony of 39 wraps of cannabis and other hard drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, on Thursday in Ibadan.

Adeoye expressed concern over the rise of economic saboteurs. “We will remain resolute in discharging our responsibilities with professionalism, transparency, and integrity in the interest of Nigerians,” he said.

Adeoye revealed that the seized items included foreign parboiled rice, used clothing, shoes, tyres, compressors, Indian hemp, vegetable oil, tramadol, premium motor spirit, foreign new textiles, sugar, and used cars.

“We have increased revenue collection to ₦14.7 billion within the first quarter of 2026, representing 46.22 percent growth,” Adeoye noted, assuring continued enforcement against smuggling and economic saboteurs.

Deputy Commander, Narcotics, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Oyo State, Ene Valentine commended the synergy among law enforcement agencies, saying the intercepted hard drugs would help reduce mental disorders and economic disruptions.

“Withdrawal of these drugs will help curb mental health issues and economic sabotage,” Valentine said, urging parents and stakeholders to work towards ending drug abuse in Nigeria.

The ceremony concluded with a tour of seized goods and formal handover of recorded articles.
