The President of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Commodore Abimbola Olaribigbe Ayuba (Rtd.), FNIM, has supported a proposal to rename the body as the Chartered Institute of Management of Nigeria.

The suggestion came from the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja, during a presidential visit in Ibadan.

The Olubadan urged NIM to continue supporting governments through policy advocacy and leadership development. He received an Award of Management Excellence from the Institute.

Speaking at the Oluyole 2026 South-West Zonal Management Summit, Ayuba said the Institute would consider the recommendation to strengthen its national identity.

The summit, themed “Resilient Institutions, Responsible Leadership: Strengthening Management Systems for Sustainable Development”, featured keynote lectures and panel discussions on management best practices.

Meanwhile, NIM has planned to leverage partnerships with universities and the private sector to drive professional development, as outlined by Mrs. Victoria Adunola Samson, Pro-Chancellor of Osun State University.

The three-day event, held from July 20-22, 2026, at Ilaji Hotel and Resort, Ibadan, attracted management professionals from across Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, and Oyo states.

The event concluded with a call to action for management professionals to drive sustainable development in Nigeria.
