The National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party and founder of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso has said his visit to the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde was based on friendship and not political.

The former governor of Kano and Minister of Defence arrived at the office of the Oyo State governor on Wednesday at about 2.30pm with maximum security.

The politician who was received by Seyi Makinde was led to the executive chamber, Secretariat, Ibadan away from the glare of the newsmen to a closed door meeting which lasted over forty minutes.

Addressing the state correspondent, the NNPP national Leader noted that he was directed to open a political office of his party in Ibadan by the party’s Oyo State chairman for political engagement ahead of the 2027 General Elections, and that he only appeared at the governor’s office to pay a respect.

He added that his visit to the party in Ibadan will include discussion of related issues about the party as 2027 General Elections build on.

While stressing that his visit had nothing to do with political engagement as some Nigerians have calculated, Kwankwaso said he succeeded on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party as a governor and minister of defence.

“My visit is not political rather based on friendship. Although, Governor Seyi Makinde is a member of the PDP, yes, I succeeded on the platform as a governor of Kano and as well Minister of Defence.

Obviously, I was one of those that formed the People’s Democratic Party in 1998. I was fortunate to turn the governor of Kano State in 1999, and later as a minister of defence.

After the NNPP office our leaders asked me to open in Ibadan, we will return to Abuja”, he concluded.
