Just in: PENGASSAN, NUPRC Target 3m Fuel Barrels Per Day By 2030

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) have set a target of producing 3 million fuel barrels per day by 2030.

This was announced at a meeting held at the NUPRC Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

PENGASSAN President, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, said Nigeria has long presumed attainment of this target, but must step up efforts to achieve it.

He emphasized the need for collaboration, unionization of petroleum workers, and an end to contract staffing, which he described as a hindrance to realizing the target.

NUPRC CEO, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, commended PENGASSAN’s plans, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has worked to improve oil production, with daily output rising from 1.1 million barrels to nearly 1.8 million barrels in 2026.

She urged oil staff to maintain a strike-free environment and pledged NUPRC’s cooperation with PENGASSAN to achieve the target.

“We hope to move to 3 million barrels per day in 2030, and increase gas production from 8 barrels to 12 barrels by 2030,” she said.
