A Former Western Region legislator’s son, Akin Oke has joined race to contest Ogbomosho North Seat ahead 2027
Akin Oke, son of the late Chief Emmanuel Olaniran Oke, a former Western Region House legislator, has announced his bid to represent Ogbomoso North State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2027.
In an interview with the newsmen on Monday, Oke, the Nigerian- UK based engineer, expressed his desire to revive the robust Politics of the First Republic, citing his father’s legacy as inspiration.
“Politics of liveliness, robustness, and touching people’s lives in a tremendous way, those are what my focus is trained on,” he said.
Akin Oke, is an accomplished footballer. He has played for several clubs, including Papa Bombers, Rolling Stars, and Nasarawa United.
He has lived in England for over 25 years, working in various organizations, and is now answering the call to contribute to Ogbomoso’s development.
His father, Late Chief Oke, was a politician and educationist who played a pivotal role in thwarting the impeachment of Premier Samuel Ladoke Akintola in 1962, earning him the nickname “Oke Mountain.”
Akin Oke’s bid for office is seen as a way to continue his family’s legacy of public service.
Recall, Ogbomoso is known for producing patriotic leaders, and Akin Oke’s candidacy is expected to bring excitement to the political landscape.
