The Coalition of Yoruba Youth Movement (COYYM) has called on former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, to immediately desist from actions and statements that deepen division within the Southwest and across Nigeria.
In a statement signed by Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji, President of COYYM, Fayose was urged to prioritize unity, embrace responsibility, and contribute positively to nation-building.

The group expressed disappointment with Fayose’s pattern of rhetoric, saying it appears more focused on stoking discord than building consensus. “The Southwest has long been a region known for its political maturity, intellectual strength, and collective pursuit of development. It should not be turned into a battleground for personal grievances or political relevance,” the statement read.
COYYM emphasized that leaders, especially those who have held positions of authority, are expected to rise above divisive tendencies and contribute meaningfully to the peace and progress of the region.

The group cautioned Fayose against engaging in narratives that threaten unity, urging him to reflect on his political journey and the current state of his influence.
“Constructive engagement, policy-driven contributions, and responsible leadership are what the people deserve – not distractions rooted in personal ambition or declining political relevance,” COYYM stated.
