Entertainment: ‘While Music Community is now Tom, Dick and Harry,’ I Pioneered Jufuji, Not Dele Bravo’ – Tayo King Clarifies

By Olawale Ogunbusola, Ibadan

A pioneer of Jufuji music style, Tayo Adeaga, ‘Tayo King’, has condemned the wild growth of non-inspirational composition in Nigeria’s music industry.

He made this statement while featuring on Wealthcome Communications Show anchored by Olusina Olabode Omoyashina on Adamimogo105.1FM Ibadan on Thursday.

The respected, experienced Jufuji brand master noted that poor music composition among young artistes is due to lack of creativity, patience, and experience.

He shared years of his learning under the leadership of Olu Ola, his paternal brother who led ‘De Rovans Band’ at the time in Ibadan, adding that his tutelage with him greatly affected his unmatched composition contemporarily.

Tayo King, also known formerly as Tayo’ Adec’ , said he pioneered ‘Jufuji’ brand as a brainchild of foremost Nigerian Juju Musicians including King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Commander Shina Peters who had their various styles and brand with yet respect.

“I have been on stage for entertainment, for years. I earlier made ‘Jujurummy Samba’ and later translated it to ‘Jufuji’ as a core blend to soothe young, and middle-aged individuals. This is a legacy that cannot be denied,” he said.

He noted that while talent is key, money and sponsors can only enable evergreen production of a well-composed song.

He explained that it took him plenty of years to gather money for his first album production in 2000, maintaining that patience, creativity, and dedication paved way for his rise in the music community.

Dismissing controversy around feud over founder of ‘Jufuji’, Tayo King said he had existed in the Jufuji styling ahead of Dele Ajetunmobi, known as ‘Dele Bravo’.

He said there is no feud between them as rumoured, adding that the duo have succeeded to promote local content globally.

“The two of us are friends, colleagues in music industry. However, without a dispute, I am years ahead in the industry above Dele Bravo,” he said.

He commended the anchor for making his platform for search lighting controversies in the entertainment industry, saying this will go along way in promoting peace, progress, and prosperity in the industry.

Meanwhile, the Jufuji brand master urged young talents to prioritize their education, embrace innovation, and mentorship for due creativity and future legacy.
