Breaking: Oyo APC Boss, Adeyemo, Charges Aspirants on Peaceful Conduct at Party Primary

By, Avant Garde

Ahead of the Friday nationwide party primary expected to produce the candidates of the House of Representatives of the All Progressives Congress APC in the next general elections, the chairman of the Party in Oyo state, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, has charged aspirants to exhibit top notch moral conduct before, during and after the exercise emphasizing that “anything contrary would not be tolerated by the leadership of the APC”.

The former deputy governor stated this in his address to the aspirants at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan on Thursday.

The meeting was called to discuss the modalities for the conduct of the direct primary in some federal constituencies where more than one aspirant has been cleared for participation in the process while affirmation would be done in places where consensus option has been adopted.

“We tried to preach the gospel of consensus and the fact that we still have numerous aspirants, who purchased Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from our state, does not imply that you do not have confidence in us.”

“I personally take it that you are exercising your democratic rights but in doing this, you must not discard the ethos of progressivism and rationality.” Adeyemo submitted.

In the meantime, the leadership of the APC in Oyo state has strongly condemned the activities of some sponsored hoodlums who besieged the Party Secretariat on Monday and caused pandemonium as unsuspecting leaders and members had run for dear lives to escape attacks and harassment.

The hoodlums who reportedly unleashed terror on members of the state executive committee, staff and others who were present at the Secretariat, were armed with dangerous weapons and charms as they came in high numbers to carry out their nefarious acts.

The attacks, which lasted for about two hours, left in its wake damage to private cars and the Secretariat building as windshield, tyres, office windows, doors among other things were shattered.

The party’s publicity secretary, Olawale Sadare, confirmed the development in a telephone conversation while he stated that the situation had been brought under perfect control.

“It was a case of sponsored attacks by some disgruntled elements but we are glad that no life was lost in the unprovoked attacks.”

“We have reported it to the security agents and I am aware that investigations have already begun. That is all I can say for now.” Sadare said.
