The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has deployed a total of 1,715 personnel, including specialized tactical units, to ensure a safe, peaceful, and hitch-free 2026 Easter celebration across the state.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the NSCDC’s public Relations Officer, Samuel Opebiyi on Thursday, the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, announced that the deployment is part of a comprehensive security arrangement aimed at protecting lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure before, during, and after the Easter festivities.

He added that the Command has strategically deployed its tactical and specialized units, including the Intelligence Team for covert surveillance and information gathering, the Armed Squad for rapid armed intervention, the Counter Terrorism Unit to address potential high-risk threats, the Agro Rangers Unit to secure farmlands and rural communities, and the Emergency Response Team for swift response to emergencies and disasters.

According to the Commandant, these units have been positioned across churches, highways, recreational centers, and other public places where large gatherings are expected, as well as vulnerable and high-risk areas within the state.

He further emphasized that the Command has strengthened inter-agency collaboration and placed all operational units on high alert to ensure effective coordination and prompt response to any security situation.

Commandant Padonu warned criminal elements to desist from any unlawful activities, stressing that the Command is fully prepared and will not hesitate to deal decisively with offenders.

Meanwhile, residents of Oyo State have been urged to remain vigilant, adhere to security advisories, and cooperate with security agencies throughout the festive period.

“For emergencies or to report suspicious activities, members of the public are advised to contact the NSCDC, Oyo State Command Control Room via 09066791894.”

“While extending warm Easter greetings to Christian faithful, the Commandant encouraged citizens to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence that the season symbolizes”, the statement concluded.
