The Federal High Court, Abuja, has ruled in favour of Dr. Oluwole Oluyede and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the suit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The court directed INEC to recognize Dr. Oluyede as the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate and include his name on the list of candidates and the party’s logo on the ballot for the Ekiti Gubernatorial elections.
The court also granted a perpetual injunction preventing INEC from excluding Dr. Oluyede from activities related to the election.
The PDP welcomed the judgment, stating that justice has been served. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, urged INEC to act within the law and refrain from partisanship.
The PDP had approached the court after INEC refused to include Dr. Oluyede’s name on the list of candidates, despite being presented with a certificate of return by the party’s National Chairman.
