A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Murewa Adeboje has described the concluded wards, local and state congresses of the party as a beacon of maturity, and newness in Nigeria’s democracy.
He said this as the party’s all level executive appointment was seamlessly peaceful across the thirty-six (36) states of the country.
Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday in Ibadan, the grassroots mobilizer noted that the nation’s democracy is beginning to gain a positive ground.
He emphasized on several improvements on electoral affairs of the country including the introduction of technology to reduce over-voting, double amendment on electoral laws both in 2022 and 2026 respectively, others which are believed will help to address over voting, apathy, distrust of the public in the process and poor preparation of political parties.
The Ikolaba of Ibadanland added that that the seamless conduct of the concluded wards, local government and state congresses of the All Progressives Congress across the country signalled due maturity and newness of the Nigeria’s democracy.
He added that the amended 2026 Electoral Law has forced the political parties to put their house in order if desiring contest in any election in the country.
” Unlike before, electoral affair is improving since the country began her full fledged democracy in 1999. Over voting fading. Poor preparation leaving political parties. Things are on the up”, he said.
The respected entrepreneur insisted that the two options in choosing a party representative which are direct and consensus by political parties will help to address mediocres in office and as well build up public confidence in aspiring for elective posts, while this will also prompt leaders’ decision to harmonize a candidate based on ‘popular demands” as to intervene against internal crisis where it arises.
Adeboje maintained that the aspirants will have prepared their homes well in terms of having necessary information, party loyalty, natural popularity and possibly average riches for self-promotion.
The APC chieftain and ally of the federal lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara, Akin Alabi who lauded the national, local and state leaders at all levels of the party for ensuring a historic congresses in the country, calling Nigerians to get involved in politics, saying the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has brought the country to true democracy.
Hon. Adeboje who congratulated the new state executive in Oyo State headed by Igboho born politician and former deputy governor to Late Abiola Ajimobi between 2011 and 2019, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, called them to embrace transparency, dedication, focus and unity in the affairs of the party for an enhanced drive to prosperity.
Meanwhile, the APC chieftain urged members of the party to shun disunity rather rally support with the triumphed executive across the wards, local councils and state for a sustainable development of the party beyond 2027.
