The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the recent attack on an Operation Burst Base in Tesi-Apata Village, Olorunsogo local government area, saying it raises questions about the functionality of the multi-billion Naira surveillance aircraft purchased by Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
In a statement on Monday, APC Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare said gunmen operated for over an hour at the base without being repelled, despite the presence of a Base Station for the aircraft in the same area.
The party accused Makinde of misusing funds, saying the N7.8 billion spent on the aircraft could have been better used on cheaper technologies for more effective security surveillance.
The statement also criticized Makinde’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying it shows his lack of capacity for economic management and nation-building.
“The whole story about security surveillance aircrafts is another scam,” Sadare said.
