Akintunde Flags Off Renovation Of 23 Schools In Oyo Central, As Two Road Projects Resume

Oyo Central Senator, Dr. Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, has flagged off a major twenty-three education infrastructure intervention that across the Senatorial District with work to begin on undergo Monday.

He disclosed that two schools were selected in each of the 11 local government areas in the district, with an additional Special School in Atiba Local government.

The affected include primary and secondary schools in Afijio, Akinyele, Atiba, Egbeda, Lagelu, Ogo-Oluwa, Oluyole, Ona-Ara, Oyo East, Oyo West and Surulere.

Some of the schools listed include Ilora Muslim Grammar School and Imini Community Grammar School in Afijio; Ajibode Grammar School and Community Grammar School, Ikereku, in Akinyele; Commercial Grammar School, Oke Oroki, and L.A. School, Sabo, in Atiba; and Idito High School, Erunmu, and SDA Owobaale Primary School in Egbeda.

Others are Community Grammar School, Ejioku Lagelu, and SS Peter Primary School, Offa, in Lagelu; Baptist Basic School, Ayegun Yemetu, and Community High School, Otamokun, in Ogo-Oluwa; Pegba Community Primary School and Aiyegun Community Primary School in Oluyole; and Aho Parapo Community Secondary School, Amuloko, and Community Grammar School, Araromi Aperin, in Ona-Ara.

While in Oyo East, Oba Adeyemi High School and Abiodun Atiba Memorial Institute, Kosobo, made the list, while L.A. Town School, Idi-Ope, and Ifedapo Community Primary School, Opapa, are listed for Oyo West. Surulere will benefit from Alayin Community High School and Community High School, Iresa-Apa.

The intervention will also cover St. Andrews College Demonstration School, Oke-Ebo, Oyo, a Special School in Atiba.

Senator Akintunde said the goal is to improve school facilities and provide more conducive environments for teaching and learning across Oyo Central communities.

In a related development, contractors handling two road projects facilitated by the Senator have resumed work. The projects are the Ayegun–Oleyo Road and the Ojongbodu Police Station–Oyo London Road.

The Senator noted that the road projects will improve connectivity, ease transportation, and support economic activities across the district.

Describing the interventions as part of his commitment to basic infrastructure, Akintunde said, “Oyo Central is working. More is coming.”
