When Ife rejects imposition of chieftaincy || Fatai Adiyeloja

I’m at sea as to why government will contemplate according recognition to the embattled Idowu Adediwura to the extent of giving him a staff of office when there is a subsisting court case challenging the legality of his imposition. Every true born of Ile-Ife is not unaware Adediwura is an impostor who assumed the position against the 1957 Chieftaincy Declaration. It is crystal clear that after Adogbodo, the next lineage to produce candidate for the vacant stool of Obalufe is Orunto Aga followed by Adogbodo ruling house before Ajagbusi which he claims as his ancestral home.

It is inconceivable to claim that Orunto Aga family ‘ s inability to agree on a candidate in record time necessitated his emergence. Our late royal father Folorunso Omisakin passed on mid October 2015. What really is the urgency in appointing Obalufe, the traditional prime minister of the Source without due consultation with the elders of the land or ensuring strict adherence to due process . That is , indeed, an unpardonable error of history that must be corrected. To err is human and to make amends also human, only God is immutable.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his immediate successor, Adegboyega Oyetola , treaded cautiously, that we thought would have guided our amiable governor Jackson Ademola Adeleke in avoiding any act capable of throwing Ile – Ife , the Source of mankind into turmoil.

Let it be stated here clearly that the next hearing for our case challenging the illegal and inappropriate imposition of Idowu Adediwura is fixed for the 30th day of June.

For me , the royal contest is not a do-or-die affair , all we are saying, let the injustice meted out to Aga ruling out be redressed.

“Idalu ni Iselu.”
