Egbeda Assembly Aspirant, Olawoyin Condemns Abduction of Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons; Insists Schools Must Be Protected

By, Precious Ojo

An aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly in Egbeda State Constituency, Hon. Temitope Olawoyin, has condemned the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons in Ibadan.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her sons to school.

In a statement signed by Olawale Kunle, Special Assistant on Media, Communications and Publicity, Hon. Olawoyin described the incident as “tragic, and a direct attack on education in Nigeria, especially in Oyo State and across the South West.”

The APC chieftain said the abductions in Oriire Local Government Area and Ibadan have shown that some people have chosen to destroy the nation’s future by attacking education.

“The power of success and healthy competition among South Westerners is under attack. We cannot build a prosperous society when our children are not safe going to school,” she said.

The public administration professional called on the Seyi Makinde-led government to strengthen surveillance and build improved security capacity. She also urged the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to collaborate fully in tackling the growing trend of insecurity nationwide.

Hon. Olawoyin sympathized with the Adelabu-Adegoke family and families of abductees from Oriire, urging them to trust security operatives and provide useful information for prompt rescue of all victims unhurt.

She urged school authorities to comply with security advisories as investigations continue, and called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

The aspiring lawmaker prayed for peace and the safe return of the abductees, charging the Oyo State House of Assembly, led by Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, to enact legislation that will reinforce the state’s security mechanisms against banditry, theft, ritual killings, and other crimes.

Meanwhile, Hon. Olawoyin vowed to deliver inclusive representation and democratic empowerment for men, women, PWDs, pregnant women, and the elderly if elected in 2027.
