The National Association of Oduduwa Students, NAOS, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and all security agencies to take urgent, co-ordinated action to end terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping across Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Adetunji Olalere, and made available to newsmen on Monday, it stated that Nigerian students and youths deserve to know why these threats continue to flourish despite the enormous human and material resources available to our security institutions.
The association acknowledged the Nigerian Army as “one of the most respected and formidable military forces in Africa,” noting that its officers have shown courage and sacrifice in the face of the insecurity threats.
It added that with the right political will, strategic co-ordination, intelligence gathering, and operational support, the Nigerian Armed Forces will significantly reduce and ultimately defeat the criminal networks.
However, NAOS urged the Federal Government to stop distractions and focus on providing practical and lasting solutions to insecurity, stressing that governors, including Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, deserve co-operation and support.
“We demand urgent, coordinated, and sustained action from all security stakeholders. The safety of Nigerians must remain the highest priority of government at all levels,” the statement said.
“Enough is enough. Nigerian youths and students are tired of political calculations while innocent citizens continue to live in fear.”
“History will remember those who stood up to defend the people in their time of need. This is the time for decisive leadership, courageous action, and a renewed commitment to securing the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”, it concluded.
