President Bola Tinubu’s decision to proceed with a state visit to the United Kingdom despite a deadly blast in Borno has raised questions about his priorities.

Recall, at least 23 people were killed and 108 injured in the attack, on the eve of Tinubu’s trip.

Speaking, former Presidential Aide, Laolu Akande noted that while Tinubu directed the military to relocate to Borno, he missed an opportunity to show empathy and solidarity with victims.

Akande suggested a stopover in Maiduguri or a personal message to Nigerians would have been fitting.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress has faulted the timing of the trip, urging Tinubu to return home, adding that
the large presidential delegation to the UK, including several governors and ministers, was excessive.

However, the Vice-President, Kashim Shettima had visited the blast site with spending the concluded Eid-El-Fitr in Maiduguri as a solidarity and essence of empathy by the Tinubu led administration against criticisms.
