An education philanthropist and 2027 aspirant for Oyo State House of Assembly, Egbeda State Constituency, Hon. Temitope Olawoyin
has called on governments to prioritize fulfilling the 2030 International Task Force on Teachers for Education framework to improve teachers’ welfare.
In a statement on Teachers’ Day 2026 signed by Media Aide, Olawale Kunle andade available to newsmen on Monday, Hon. Olawoyin condemned the poor welfare packages for teachers in Nigeria, saying they earn ₦30,000-₦600,000 depending on location and qualification, despite being key to nation-building.
She cited countries like Morocco, South Africa, and Canada where teachers earn $2000-$3500 monthly with incentives, and urged Nigeria to follow suit.
“There should be better welfare packages for teachers – housing, infrastructure, funding for academic development, promotions, and merit awards,” she said.

Olawoyin noted Nigeria has experienced teachers who need motivation to sustain nation-building, and urged private individuals to support government efforts.
Meanwhile, she appealed to Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde to provide more competitive infrastructure, bonuses, and benefits for teachers.
