Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a firearm and ammunition during a raid in the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan.

The Command said the arrest followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected armed robbers operating from a hideout in the area.

In a statement issued on August 2, 2026, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit carried out a coordinated raid in the early hours of the day, saying three suspects were arrested during the operation
identified as Tomiwa Ayomide, 28; Haruna Kabiru, 32; and Haruna Hassan alias “Malo”, 32.

A search of the apartment led to the recovery of one single-barrel locally made cut-to-size gun and seven cartridges, the statement added.

The suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to determine their involvement in other crimes and to apprehend possible accomplices.

Meanwhile, the Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, and urged residents to provide timely information to aid crime fighting efforts.
