The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Ibadan Chapter, has mourned the passing of Chief AbdulRasheed Olalekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, who died on August 1, 2026, at 76.

In a tribute was signed by Chairman, of the Institute, Hon. Kazeem Alimi, describing Chief Alabi as an illustrious son of Ibadan, a distinguished journalist, accomplished Public Relations expert, and respected custodian of Yoruba culture and tradition.

The statement noted that the late Ibadan chief served as Chief Press Secretary to four Governors of old Oyo State and as Cultural Ambassador at the Cultural Museum, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The Institute said Chief Alabi’s contributions to journalism, public communication, cultural promotion, and Ibadanland’s development will remain indelible. It extended condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, his family, Ibadanland, and those mourning his passing.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus,” the statement read.
