Oyo Assembly aspirant for Egbeda State Constituency under the platform of APC, Hon. Temitope Olawoyin, has called for peace and unity to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
In a Democracy Day statement issued Friday by her Special Assistant on Media, Olawale Kunle, Olawoyin said economic progress could only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace.
“Retrogressive economic strides can only be reversed when Nigerians embrace peace and unity,” she said.

The aspiring lawmaker condemned the abduction of over 40 pupils and teachers still in captivity in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing it as “unfortunate and saddening.”
She urged Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify rescue efforts for the victims abducted on May 15.

Olawoyin also called on religious and traditional leaders to join forces in combating societal decadence and promoting peaceful co-existence.
She urged governments at all levels to prioritize security of lives and property as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.

“Nigerians must strengthen mechanisms for peace and unity to achieve transformative progress,” she added.
