The 67th Founders’ Day celebration of Akinorun Grammar School, Ikirun, was a grand affair that brought together old students from inception, with a medley of events that thrilled and engaged attendees.

The festivities commenced on Friday, May 8, 2026, with a “Walk to Live” keep-fit walk and medical outreach programme, setting the tone for a day of intellectual discourse and merriment.
The event, held within the school premises, featured a keynote address by Dr. Femi Adefila, MD/CEO of Rave 91.7 FM, who delivered a well-researched paper on “Relationship Management: Benefits of Old Students Association.”

Dr. Adefila emphasized the importance of active participation in old students’ association activities, citing the benefits of networking, financial support, and collective contributions to the school’s growth.
“In this ‘everyone for himself, God for all of us’ age of globalization, old students’ association remains one of the most structured, powerful, and enduring systems of relationship management,” he said.

The guest speaker urged attendees to look beyond personal benefits and consider the burdens of not being active participants in the association’s programmes.
“Without paying annual dues and meeting financial obligations, there’s little or nothing the association can achieve,” he noted.

Prof. Tunde Farombi, President of AGSOSA National Body and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, echoed Dr. Adefila’s sentiments, calling on members to rededicate themselves to repositioning the school and sustaining its academic standards.

The event featured cultural displays, award presentations, and a pledge by the Chairman of the occasion, the prime mover of SEAP Holdings Nigeria LTD,Dr. Dokun Olatunde,
to provide a borehole and toilet facilities for the school.
The celebration was marked by a sense of pride and nostalgia, with attendees reminiscing about their time at Akinorun Grammar School and reaffirming their commitment to the institution.

The school’s alumni, including prominent individuals, praised the event’s organization and intellectual content.
The Founders’ Day celebration demonstrated Akinorun Grammar School’s enduring legacy and its continued relevance in shaping the lives of its students.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a call to action for attendees to contribute to the school’s growth and development.
