The Avant Garde Support of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has cautioned leaders against making statements that could distort democratic progress.
In a statement signed by Publicity Secretary, Kabiru Isiaka, on Sunday, the group said the APC has enabled opposition parties to operate constitutionally, citing the national summit of opposition parties as a testament to the healthy political atmosphere under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, the group criticized Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s “wetie operation” comments, calling it unhelpful politicking.
The group urged opposition leaders to focus on resolving internal crises and respecting electoral guidelines, saying Nigerian democracy has outgrown violence and incitement.

“Address lingering crises in your party, and respect the law. The Electoral Act has given clear direction for a smooth 2027 General Election,” the statement added.
