Federal Ministry of Environment alerts Oyo State, Adamawa, Enugu, seven others on likely flooding

The federal Ministry of Environment, Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management, Abuja has alerted ten states against likely flooding.

In a statement made available Director , Erosion, Flood and Coastal, Zone Management Department, Usman Abdullahi Bokani on Monday, stated that the climate stress will impact ten states, predicting a downpour between Monday 13th and Friday 17th April, 2026.

The states included Adamawa, Enugu, Kaduna, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Osun, Oyo, Taraba.

The federal ministry of Environment while calling the residents to take precautionary measures against climate stress, especially flooding, relevant stakeholders have been tasked to take the support the National Flood Early Warning Centre ( NFEWS CENTRE), and Federal Ministry of Environment Abuja in reducing likely impacts of the climate stress.

The flood predicted localities in each of the ten states are Adamawa ( Ganye, Gbajii), Enugu (Nsukka), Kaduna (Buruku, Kachia, Kaduna, Kafanchan), Kogi (Ibaji), Kwara (Bode-Sadu, Ilorin), Niger (Chanchaga, Minna, Sarkin Pawa), Osun ( Ilesa, Iragbiji, Oshogo, Otan Ayegbaju), Oyo( Apata, Bodija, Challenge, Eleyele, Moniya, Odo Ona, Ojoo, Oyo ),Plateau ( Bukuru) and Taraba ( Serti).

Meanwhile, experts have called the government to fund environment protection against continued climate impacts.
